In the spring 2002, Town & Country wrote a glowing review of L'Oustalet. It was in a big article, the magazine did on Provence. Two conclusions were made: The first was, that it would become hard to get reservations here. The second was, that while fame might inspire the kitchen to even greater culinary heights, it would not change the restaurant's essentially admirable character, ….: Chef Johannes Sailer's cooking is better than ever - refined, flavourfull and sophisticated without being overly elaborated - and Madame Sailer and her staff continue to run the dining room in their usual friendly and efficient manner. What they did not predict was, that the restaurant would move from its cozy village square of Gigondas, and that it would change its title after years of building the name, L'Oustalet, to a legend in Provence.

But it happend - Valentine's Day 2004 the Sailers reopened in the neighbourhood village of Sablet under the name Les Abeilles. Sablet's gain - is Gigondas' loss, but fans of this great restaurant will follow it anywhere. Enjoy a wonderfull dinner in the summertime on the large, pretty terrace shaded by plane trees. In wintertime in the dining room - quiet and cheerfull. And after a god meal : Try the cozy bar for an after-dinner digestif.


We offer a full breakfast or simply a hot drink and croissant.

Tables are available from 12.15 and last orders are taken at 13.45. We offer a choice of fixed price menus or, of course, full à la carte (snacks only in the “salon-bar”)

We also offer a selection of hot and cold drinks, sorbets, icecream, sweet and a lot of pastries.

Dinner is served between 7.30pm and 9pm. Later reservations can be made by special arrangements.

Johannes Sailer offers cooking lessons at Les Abeilles (84110 Sablet). They will be available from October to April in the next year. Beginners and more advanced gourmets who wish to become more creative are welcome. (110.00 € per day).
